Born and bred in Saudi Arabia, I moved to sunny California to do my undergraduate studies in mechanical engineering and history at Stanford University. I graduated last year and have been working since as a full-time researcher at the Center for Complex Engineering Systems (CCES), a research collaboration between the Saudi National Labs KACST, and MIT.

Since joining CCES, I took up the issue of air-quality and solar technologies--a fascinating complex system at the interface between atmospheric science and energy systems. Although my country has one of the highest levels of irradiance, up to 80% of its solar potential is lost due to dust--a serious obstacle to our transition to sustainable energy, environmental, and economic systems. More details on my research work under the 'Research' and 'Publications' tabs.

I love my job mostly because I get to work on captivating problems that make me constantly intellectually intrigued. But also because get to live an interesting hybrid life--constantly moving between Riyadh and Boston. Outside of research, I spend my time reading, running, going to concerts, and thinking.
